Links to Free Utilities Based on our client's various issues and needs we offer the links below to sites where you can get various free or trial software that we think is very helpful in protecting your computer and enhancing your experience on the web. Clicking on a link will open a new window with further instructions to download the utility. Virus Software from AVG Grisoft - these guys have greatly improved their update functionality and IT IS FREE for use on your home PC. A good product that has been helping us for some time. Microsoft OneCare On-line Scanner - follow this link and select "Full Service Scan". SpyBot Spyware Removal/Protection - Spybot has some interactive protection and is a product you should have on your PC. Make a donation if you can afford it - these guys do this to help us rid the world of these nasty pests. PC Pitstop - a tune-up site that offers free on line scanning and problem determination. They also offer all kinds of information and services. Check the left side of the page for the FREE utilities. Skype - Make FREE voice calls around the world! This is free software that allows you to make voice calls from your computer to other computers running the Skype software. You must have a microphone and either speakers or a headset and your PC must be running either Windows 2000 or XP. At the time of this posting the Skype software is free and is a "beta" release. WinZip - The most popular file compression utility. A must application for every PC out there. A free trial. If you can't afford to purchase this after the trial get the free 7-zip product below. 7-zip - Another good open source product that is FREE! Donations to these guys are always welcome and help keep good products coming. Microsoft Viewers - Maybe you don't actually have Microsoft Office installed on your PC so you will need the FREE viewers that Mr. Gates & Company provide so your can at least read the WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT files that your friends and business associates send you. Follow this link and select the viewer(s) you want to install. If you still use an older Windows version (ME/98) the viewers at Microsoft will NOT work. If that is the case try downloading THIS WORD VIEWER for Windows 98. Content Audit - check your PC for text content categorized as "adult", "drugs", "violence" and/or "gambling". This free tool is far from 100% accurate but it will locate things you probably don't know about and that you don't want on your hard drive.
